Who hates Sarah Palin? - I do!

WARNING:READ THIS BEFORE CONTINUING ON - if you disagree with me, that's fine - that's your right as an American - hopefully a voting American.


DO NOT make some snarky comment about my political views and I will not personally attack yours... and I will if provoked.

If you are ok with these stipulations then please, by all means, continue to read these facts which are backed up with legitimate sources... I'm well aware that some of my dear friends will undoubtedly vote for this train wreck of a ticket - I still love you although I disagree with you...

So, I am shamelessley stealing this blog post from a dear friend Amy... I am not sure I could have written this better my self - and do note, I am hoping Tina Fey will come back to SNL this season as a guest to further exploit the humorous antics of SP!!!

I hate Sarah Palin with an irrational white-hot intensity. Two weeks ago, 98.5 percent of the population had never even heard of her and likely would have mistaken her for Tina Fey.
I resent John McCain trying to shove this novice down our throats, partially, to pander to women. Just because we both have uteruses doesn't mean I'll vote for her. Trying to pick up the 13 million Hillary votes? How patrionizing to think that we'll vote for her just because she's a woman. She and Hillary have no beliefs in common.

Let's break it down:
- Sarah Palin went from being a PTA mom to a member of the City Council in Wasilla, Alaska – population 7,025.

- She spent four years on the City Council before winning the mayoral race in 1996. Why, she oversaw a Police Department of 25 officers! In 1999, she won her second post because 909 people voted for her.

- When term limits kept her from running again in 2002, Mrs. Palin endorsed her stepmother-in-law's opponent, who won the election. (Talk about family values!). That same year, Sarah Palin lost a bid for lieutenant governor.
- Mrs. Palin, who has a stronger than slim possibility of representing the biggest global superpower on the world stage, only last year received her passport and ventured out of the country. Apparently McCain's campaign is a little sensitive when it comes to discussing Palin's foreign policy "experience." From a testy exchange between CNN's Campbell Brown and McCain's (ill-prepared) campaign spokesman Tucker Bounds (BTW, McCain later pulled out of an interview with CNN's Larry King because they didn't like this line of questioning):
BROWN: Tucker, foreign policy experience has been a huge issue in this campaign because you guys made it a big issue, pointing out John McCain has far more experience than Barack Obama and nothing in your view is more important than the campaign. I don't have to tell you there's a feeling out there by some that you're not holding your VP pick to your own standard, the standard you define. So explain to us why you think Gov. Palin is ready to be commander in chief. ..:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />..:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O />
BOUNDS: Gov. Palin has the good fortune of being on ticket with John McCain who there is no question is the most experienced and shown proven judgment on the international stage. He understands foreign affairs.
BROWN: We know all that about John McCain, Tucker. I asked you about her. We all know the role of the VP as John McCain defined it is to be able to step into the job of the presidency on day one. I'm asking you about her foreign policy experience.
BOUNDS: Yeah, Campbell, there are a number of people supporting Barack Obama's candidacy and feel he's experienced enough to take on the Oval Office. Our feeling is --
BROWN: You're not answering my question --
BOUNDS: Just as much experience as Barack Obama.
BROWN: OK. So does she -- you -- what I'm saying is that you set a different standard by arguing how important it was with John McCain. No one's arguing with you he has much more experience than Barack Obama, so I'm trying to get someone from the campaign to explain to me what foreign policy experience or qualifications she has that would allow her to be ready to be commander in chief if something should happen to Sen. McCain.
BOUNDS: Well, Campbell, let me be clear. I don't think there should be problem explaining her experience. She has executive state level experience. She's been in public office reforming Washington. She's been in executive office longer and in a more effective sense than Barack Obama's been in the United States Senate. She's been the commander of the National Guard of the Alaska National Guard that's been deployed overseas. That's foreign policy experience.
BROWN: If I can interrupt for one second because I've heard you guys say this a lot. Can you tell me one decision that she made as commander in chief of the Alaska National Guard, just one?
BOUNDS: Yeah. She's made -- any decision she has made as the commander of the National Guard that's deployed overseas is more of a decision Barack Obama's been making as he's been running for the president for the last two years.
BROWN: So tell me. Tell me. Give me an example of one of those decisions. I'm curious, just one decision she made in her capacity as commander in chief of the National Guard.
BOUNDS: Campbell, certainly you don't mean to belittle, every experience, every judgment she makes as commander --
BROWN: I'm belittling nothing. I want to know one judgment or one decision. I want to know what one decision was. I'm not belittling anything, I am curious.
BOUNDS: As she makes a decision how to equip or how to command the national guard in Alaska, that is more --
BROWN: But Tucker, those are the Pentagon's decision, that's Gen. Petraeus, that's the White House.
BOUNDS: Pardon me?
BROWN: No governor makes decisions how to equip or deploy the National Guard. When they go to Iraq, those are decisions made by the Pentagon.

Where she stands
Socially, she's for all the typical things I'm vehemently against, and against the ones I'm for. Anyone who knows me knows what those are.
- Some reports says she's a racist: "So Sambo beat the bitch!" This is how she (loudly) allegedly described Barack Obama's win over Hillary Clinton to political colleagues in a restaurant a few days after he locked up the Democratic nomination.

And she is, of course, anti-choice, even in the case of rape or health risks to the mother.

Again, speaking of hypocrisy, I found this op-ed from the Detroit Free-Press interesting if the races were reversed:
What if Palin were a black woman governor from, say, Illinois, who had been added to the Democratic ticket? What if her 17-year-old daughter had been impregnated by an 18-year-old, basketball-playing black kid from Chicago with no college plans or discernible means of income?
… But set the same problems in the context of a white family, and they can be excused away, or even celebrated as paragons of American culture. Sarah Palin's daughter and her fiance are being hailed as moral heroes because of the way they've handled their situation; black kids would be condemned and held up as a teachable example for just being in that situation in the first place. Even some evangelicals are speaking up that this doesn't exactly meet their definition of "family values." Here's part of a Seattle Times guest column by an evangelical Christian Wasilla resident raising a child with Down syndrome:
Sarah Palin actively chose to engage the national media machine rather than passing by this opportunity in favor of supporting her daughter through a physically and emotionally trying time.

Who is Sarah Palin? Here's some basic background:
* She was elected Alaska's governor a little over a year and a half ago. Her previous office was mayor of Wasilla, a small town outside Anchorage. She has no foreign policy experience.1
* Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest.2
* She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000. 3
* Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools.4
* She's doesn't think humans are the cause of climate change.5
* She's solidly in line with John McCain's "Big Oil first" energy policy. She's pushed hard for more oil drilling and says renewables won't be ready for years. She also sued the Bush administration for listing polar bears as an endangered species—she was worried it would interfere with more oil drilling in Alaska.6
* How closely did John McCain vet this choice? He met Sarah Palin once at a meeting. They spoke a second time, last Sunday, when he called her about being vice-president. Then he offered her the position.7

Alaskans, collectively, are just as stunned as the rest of the nation. She is doing well running our State, but is totally inexperienced on the national level, and very much unequipped to run the nation, if it came to that. She is as far right as one can get, which has already been communicated on the news. I think she's far too inexperienced to be in this position. I'm all for a woman in the White House, but not one who hasn't done anything to deserve it. There are far many other women who have worked their way up and have much more experience that would have been better choices. * She was named VP running mate on her 20th wedding anniversary.
* She smoked marijuana when it was legal under Alaska law. (Aug 2006). Interesting. I had no idea it was ever legal in Alaska.
* Her only entry listed for foreign policy on the "on the issues" website: Peace Corps strengthens US ties abroad & enriches US at home. (Jan 2007). Pathetic.
