Baby Shower Happy Hour

The mother of all baby showers was this weekend - Baby Shower Happy Hour! It was for the always fantastic Melanie Neal in her anticipated birth of Scarlett Isabelle who will make her apperance sometime in mid August. Melanie and I first met when she hired me at Bath and Body Works - A LONG TIME AGO! She's always been a party girl and famous for always getting the crowd at any bar to to a WOO WOO shot - I honestly think she made this up but, still it's fun none the less. Here's how that one works - 1) you must have a group of girls 2) you must tell the bartender what to make - I don't even know the exact recipe but it's normally "some rhum and some vodka and some ... I don't know, I'm already drunk, give me a damn shot of something tasty...

We had to go over the top with this shower - nothing but extravagance was expected. I've hosted quite a few showers - bachelorette, wedding, baby (normally in that order) but this has to be one of the most fun baby ones in a long time to plan!

Anyway here are some great pictures!!!
In sort of an order... the pictures are - the entry table with the invitation, nametags and Melanie's Princess Crown and maternitini glass for the evening - a close up of her glass that Cheryl painted - out side we used large martini glasses filled with oversized silk flowers - we filled huricanes with an abundance of silk flowers to really embellish the look - next is the drink table and a close up of the individual glass decoration, each had a tag to ensribe your intitials as well as a pink crystal pacifier! -next is the food spread, it was great! - followed by the fabulous cake - then there is the group shot with Melanie in the middle - then the local hostesses, Sylvia, Chris, Carrie, Cheryl, me and Lindsey - and last but not least - Melanie doing her infamous WOO WOO shot - non-alcoholic of course.

Here's to Baby Scarlett Isabelle - you are welcomed into this world by your mom's fabulous friends! Of course, all of our children will party like we did not too long ago!

SEX AND THE CITY: THE MOVIE

Last week was the premier of SEX AND THE CITY: THE MOVIE! I flew out to Denver to watch the movie with my best friend Elizabeth. It was a great mini vacation and of course a FABULOUS movie. We also had a pre movie party – “The Return of Martini’s and Manolo’s.” Holly very graciously hosted party at her super swank LoDo loft that is only a few blocks away from the movie theater.

The party was a blast and I met so many new and interesting people. Most people dressed up in fun party dresses and everyone brought a bottle of martini related alcohol and Holly printed cute little recipes for new types of drinks. I made my staples – Cosmopolitans and Pomegranate Martini’s.

It was a great way to get in the SATC spirit before the movie. It was so fun to know that people everywhere had parties and got all dressed up for the movie! And yes, I will continue to make fun of Trekkies and Star Wars nerds – although I wore a fabulous cocktail dress and some rockin’ shoes, I did not wear a Chewbacca suit or pointy ears and a color block jump suit.
In other Denver news, we did a lot of retail therapy and drank a lot – both things that Elizabeth and I excel in! One afternoon, we went to a Champagne Bar for Happy Hour – boy were we happy and bubbly!!!Chad and Liz live in Englewood, CO actually and there is a light rail station very close to their house which is really convenient – however we found out the hard way that the light rail stops running at 2 am … note to self… must leave down town prior to 2 am or risk pulling people out of bed to come get us. THANKS CHAD!!! I came home on Sunday on yet another fun Frontier flight!

Another margarita por favor!

Lindsey’s birthday continued through the week! As tradition, Lindsey, Lynn and I went out dinner, this time we went to Abuelo’s, mainly for the sangria swirl margaritas! It was a good time and always fun for us to get together.

Lynn and I have been friends for 10 years now – we met on the very first day in the very first class for both of us at the University of Arkansas. Lindsey and I met a couple of years later when we both worked at Bath and Body Works. Our lives have all taken much different paths yet we’ve all 3 remained close. I hosted both of the bachelorette parties, was in both of their weddings, hosted both of their baby showers and was there at the hospital with both of them immediately after their first babies were born and was one of the first to hold both of them. That’s quite a lot just in the past 5 years. The first 5 years was much different, consisting of LOTS of parties, Lots of boyfriends, a few fiancés and LOTS of late nights! I don’t regret any of the parties or late nights. I can only imagine what the next 10 years will bring.

B-C Wedding

Brad and Jennifer got married on April 19th at the Ozark Mountain Smoke House – it was pretty much the perfect wedding for two really great people.

Ari and her “Little Black Dress Brigade” did all the planning and décor and it was of course beautiful! Sorry for the late post and CONGRATULATIONS to both of you! Of course we wen't out afterwards and we can't go the night without doing shots!

Makin my way to Denver

I'm in Denver this weekend for a fabulous premier party for Sex and the City: The Movie! I arrived yesterday via Tulsa - I'm not a fan of the Tulsa airport. I did get some great shopping done prior to my flight!
There was a family that was at the ticket counter with me waiting for it to open - their screaming child didn't help the ticket counter open any earlier. That was 2 hours before the flight was scheduled ... in my 2 hours I had a tasty meal of chicken tenders (of course) and multiple gin and tonics. Apparently the little screaming girl held ALL her crazy in until she got on the plane --- as we were in line to board the plane she was so friendly and giving everyone high fives and winking at people - strangers ate that up. I cringed! I knew what was looming... she SCREAMED the entire flight. Also there was a crazy old woman next to me, but she kept to herself after a few odd comments - her John Grisham paperback kept her occupied.
Our flight attendant was super creepy - she was all about flirting with the equally creepy businessman in the row opposite me - so much to the point she was practically sitting on the arm rest = his lap.
The flight got a little bumpy on the descent - which apparently is common - I don't see how predicted turbulance can ever be common - if you know it's there - fly straighter or something! Just like if you know there is ice on the road - you don't go 90 mph! Around then is when I really started regretting that 3rd g&t!
Once we landed, the Denver airport was a welcome site! It seems to be a very nice and new (or at least well renovated) airport! I made my way to baggage claim and was pretty proud of myself for navigating through the air port - I know it really isn't that tough but I have this fear of airports... anyway I finally found Elizabeth after multiple "where are you" "I'm by the Frontier sign" conversations - there are LOTS O FRONTIER signs!
Chad was really excited to eat Mexican food last night so we rode the train downtown to a Mexican place that has a 2 margarita max!

Today is the day! The premier of SEX AND THE CITY MOVIE!
Stay tuned....

A New Addiction

I've got a new addiction - snarky t-shirts. My gateway was the elusive seach for a "Bitch is the New Black" t shirt a few months back. I came across some great finds and now get the email updates when new t's are available. My new favorite site is http://www.palmercash.com/. Here's an example - also what I rocked out in on Saturday night!
For those of you without super power reading ability AAAA stands for Anti-Acronym Association of America. It's fantastic!
*******
We had a very busy and fantastic weekend!
Friday night we went out for Amber's Birthday and met everyone at Tapinazo's for drinks and tapas, we couldn't stay long for we were going to the theatre!!! Mike and I went to see STOMP at the WAC - it was really cool. Then we went to OPO to watch Maude Crawford. Cole and I attempted to dance, but my shoe choice for the evening was not made for twirling... and the attemted dancing lasted only one song.
Saturday afternoon I got new tires at Sam's Club- WOW that was fun...
Saturday, Mike and I had a great dinner at Pesto Cafe then went out and met pretty much everyone we knew out on Dickson. I think a great time was had by EVERYONE! It was fabulous weather and fabulous company all around!
It definately put me in the mood for a great summer!

Sunday was craft day and SLEEP day - I made baby shower invitations for Melanie's upcoming FABULOUS shower!

Don't forget, Tuesday is Mike's birthday!

3 weeks and counting...

Well I'm really pretty proud of myself - I haven't had a coke in 3 weeks!

So what's been going on...
  • Valentine's Day was great! Mike sent me some beautiful flowers in a really cool vase which apparently was the selling point! But they were all very pretty together. We went to dinner at Tapinazo's which was good but we definately think its more of a warm weather place where we can sit on the patio. Then we went to Stir to celebrate Lane's birthday.
  • Saturday night was the Stock the Bar Party - Olive Us Are Getting Together for Brad and Jennifer! It was a BLAST! Everyone had a fabulous time and we polished off way too much alcohol - who is surprised
  • Bible Study ended on Monday night which is good and not so good - Good because I never really got into this study and bad because that was really the only time I got to see all the Benton County girls... we'll have to make time with out Beth Moore.

Pregnant Friend Tally has increased by two - Melanie and Leigh are both due in late August - nothing wrong with Virgo babies!

This weekend is Jennifer's Bachelorette Party in Kansas City - it should be just as fun... Erin has done a great job at pulling everything together.

Ok so that's my update... more soon!
